Church & Society

The United Methodist Church has a long history of concern for social justice and Church & Society Commission strives to bridge the gap between the church and society by focusing attention on important issues within our church, community and world. We use the United Methodist Six Social Principles to focus our work: The Natural World, The Nurturing Community, The Social Community, The Economic Community, The Political Community, and The World Community.
  • One aspect of Church & Society work is simply the hard work of holding up a mirror that allows the church and the community to actually see the brokenness all around us.
  • We strive to make many people aware of the problems we face in our church, community, and society and equip them with facts and information that is accurate and relevant.
  • We connect value, ethic & moral to the facts.
  • We strive to empower people for action by giving them skills they need to act on the knowledge they have. With each action comes growing awareness and knowledge.
