City Council Forums ~ Pies & Propositions

We hold governments responsible for the protection of the rights of the people to free and fair elections. The form and the leaders of all governments should be determined by exercise of the right to vote guanteed to all adult citizens.

Pies and Propositions is a yearly fun and educational offering of Church & Society Commission. We invite the League of Women Voters to present bipartisan discussion on each proposition followed by questions and comments. We then conduct a "straw poll" and count the votes while everyone is enjoying pie and coffee. People leave with a deeper understanding of the issues and are educated and informed voters. This has grown from a "fireside chat" for church members to an evening including people from around the community.

We are also well known for our City Council Forums, which allow the public to get to meet and hear the candidates. This collaboration between Church & Society Commission and the League of Women Voters is one of the largest of the many City Council Forums. League of Women Voters willingness to help and their hard work are much appreciated.
