Community Development Fund-Christmas Offering
We support the basic rights of all persons to equal access to housing, education, communication, employment, medical care, legal redress for grievances and physical protection.
The Church & Society Commission has the wonderful opportunity and responsibility to research local non-profit organizations and make the decision regarding how our Christmas offering will be divided. We start with input as to where is the greatest need and where we can affect some positive change. Then each of our commission members researches and visits these non-profit organizations to ascertain their particular needs. We proceed to an evening of discussion and voting and then present our recommendations to Pastor Rod. He includes the finalized list in his Christmas letter. One hundred percent of the offering is given to these non-profit organizations. Some years we may pick only three, in order to help in a big way, and some years we have spread it to as many as ten groups. The percentages for each is determined by the group.
