Donating Marketable Securities

First Church welcomes donations of marketable securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds). 

Please call the Church Business Manager at 530 – 243-2403 and provide the following information before the transfer for audit and acknowledgement purposes.  (Please note that due to restricted confidentiality, our broker no longer provides us with donor information.  If you do not notify the church of your stock transfer, we will not be able to give the appropriate contribution credit.)

• Donor's name and address

• Name and number of securities transferred

• Specific First Church programs to which gift should be directed, it any.

You can initiate a broker-to-broker transaction by giving First Church's account information to your broker.  Please contact the Business Manager to confirm the current church account information.

The marketable security donation is valued at the date it is transferred to the church.  A donation of appreciated stock can have considerable tax advantages to you, the donor.

Contribute a gift from your Charitable Gift Fund or IRA

Gifts of this nature need to be set up with your financial professional.  We are happy to assist if you need information about the church Tax ID (phone 530 – 243-2403.)  Donations from your IRA can be used to meet your minimum distribution requirements and are not shown on your income tax return as income, which can have tax advantages for you.  Please consult with your tax accountant.
