Fellowship Café
A Place to Meet and Greet
Fellowship Café is held down stairs in the Social Hall between the 9:00am and the 11:00am worship services, at approximately 10:10am to 11:00am. Fellowship Café is a place to meet with friends and to open our hearts to new ones. For people who go to the eleven o’clock service, this is a great time to catch up with friends that go to the nine o’clock service, and always an opportunity to make new friends. Fellowship Café is also offered following the 11:00am worship service and provides a time to chat a bit before heading off for the rest of the day. If you are New to First Church, feel free to have a cup of Fair Trade Coffee and some of the delicious baked goods offered.
Looking to Serve?
Fellowship Café is provided by our loyal volunteers. Fellowship Café is always looking for new volunteers to do this special service and we are always ready to train you. It is not a difficult service and takes little time to learn how to prepare for Fellowship Café. Fellowship Café is a perfect service for a husband and wife to serve or maybe two friends. Many of the Fellowship Café delicious bakery goodies are baked by our volunteer bakers. We are also looking for people who love to bake and want to share their lovely goodies, which they make so well. If you feel that you would like to participate in any way with this wonderful service please contact Conni Lancaster at conni@reddingumc.org .
Fair Trade Coffee:
Fair Trade Coffee is coffee which is purchased directly from the growers for a higher price than standard coffee. Fair Trade Coffee is one of many fair trade certified products available around the world. The purpose of fair trade is to promote healthier working conditions and greater economic incentive for producers. Coffee farmers producing fair trade certified coffee are required to be part of a co-op with other local growers. The co-ops determine how the premiums from Fair Trade Coffee will be spent. Growers are guaranteed a minimum price for the coffee, and if market prices exceed the minimum, they receive a per pound premium. Fair Trade Coffee has become increasingly popular over the last 10 years, and is now offered at most places coffee is sold. Fellowship Café is proud to serve Fair Trade Coffee.
If you would like to purchase Fair Trade Coffee for your home use please contact Conni Lancaster at conni@reddingumc.org or see her on Sunday mornings. We usually carry Ethiopian and Breakfast Blend which are two of the most popular coffees. Other blends are available and can be ordered. Conni will have the most current price and availability if you are interested.
