Hidden Power of the Gospels
by Alexander J. Shaia
presented in four workshops.
What do we do when our lives fall apart, or we experience feelings of betrayal? How do we move through suffering, or overcome feelings of isolation and abandonment? Let's explore the gospels together and learn to make sense of loss and suffering. Matthew and Mark offer the patterns for our inner growth. Let's build a supporting community through prayer and rituals. Let's explore our creativity through prayer cards, poetry, music or journaling.
Here is the invitation of the Gospel of John: Resting in John's glorius garden. How do we receive joy?
June 9, Saturday is the third workshop in this series of four workshops. We will meet at Sue & Ray Kermode's home from 12:00 to 4:00. We will start with a light lunch. Bring your book and writing journal. It is not necessary to attend all four workhops.
"This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, ameanness,
Some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thoughts, the shame, the malice
Meet them at the door laughing,
And invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, Because each has been sent
As a guide from beyond." Rumi
We will learn the healing powers of walking in the garden and offering ourselves in service. This workshop is presented by Susannah Ayala-Grabiel, a new member of First Church.
