Inclusive MinistriesWe recognize and affirm the full humanity and personhood of all individuals with mental, physical, developmental, neurological, and psychological conditions or disabilities as full members of the family of God. We urge the Church and society to recognize and receive the gifts of persons with disabilitie to enable them to be fullparticipants in the community of faith. Inclusive Ministries is a monthly gathering of people from adult care facilities who face mental health issues. We bring them together for singing, social time and enjoying a great meal. We average 25 guests. The event is the highlight of the month for these folks and they love the singing, food and desserts. It could not be done without the wonderful support of so many church members (and some people from the community) who provide the food, help with set up and clean up, serve, provide the music accompaniment, transportation and of course catching up on how everyone is doing. There is an evening church service and so any guests choosing to have the option of staying for worship. One young woman was so grateful for the opportunity to take communion as it had been many years.
Forums: Several years ago Church and Society had a very successful and well attended forum on Mental Health. An excellent panel addressed the many aspects of dealing with mental health issues. There was an opportunity for questions and many issues came to light.
