“Spring for Kids”
Sat. April 28th at 6:30 PM, Social Hall
Be a part of the first ever “Spring for Kids Dinner and Dessert Auction” presented by Partners Helping Families. We are excited by having John Cerro make a great dinner for us and having an exciting array of delectable desserts that will be auctioned off which you can share with your table or take home with you.
You can be a part of this fun event by buying tickets, volunteering to help decorate , or by donating one of your own delectable desserts. Just talk to Nancy Bray, Jeanne Banghart, or Damon Cropsey for more information. This is after the Whole Earth Festival so you don’t have to worry about what you are going to fix for dinner. Just come and enjoy the festivities. Hope to see you there!
*Difficulties may occur if you attempt to take all of the dessert home and PHF will not be responsible for those difficulties.
History ~ Background
Partners Helping Families was created by First United Methodist Church working with members from Pilgrim Congregational Church-United Church of Christ, and First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ to establish a non profit corporation. On July 3, 2006 we were granted our non profit corporation number. Our goal was to find a segment of the community where needs were not being met. The one particular area we found was teens who were either pregnant or parenting and did not have the family support they needed. Since August 2007, we have made grants for a variety of needs: rental deposits; utility deposits; kitchen supplies; used furniture; baby clothes; vocational education fees; GED test fees, etc. Our desire is to aid these young families in becoming more able to be self-sufficient. We work with teen families referred from either the Shasta High School District CalSAFE program or the North Valley Catholic Social Service’s Tapp program. Our Current Board of Directors include members from First United Methodist Church, Pilgrim Congregational Church-United Church of Christ, and Friends.
-
The criteria for aid is to be a parenting or pregnant teen enrolled in either the CalSAFE or TAPP programs and not be involved with drug, alcohol, or physical abuse.
-
All referrals to Partners Helping Families come from caseworkers in the CalSAFE and TAPP programs. The caseworker recommends to PHF what each family needs and then PHF decides whether or not it is able to meet those needs.
-
The Board of Directors meets once a month on the first Wednesday at 6:00PM in the Eldridge Trott Room at the First United Methodist Church on the corner of South and East Streets. Please enter from the doors at the front of the church on East Street.
-
There is no cost to get help from PHF.
