Rev. Rod Brayfindley

Rod (Rodger) Brayfindley is a member of the Redding First Church Ministry Team and an ordained United Methodist pastor. He is known as an energetic, humorous, and passionate public speaker, and has spoken in hundreds of locations in the western United States. He earned his Masters Degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, where he also received the Harold M. Kaufman B’nai B’rith award for Social Ethics and Academic Excellence.

Like all of us, Rod is a person of many interests. He loves reading, sports, music, and travel. He speaks some of four languages, and also reads Koine Greek. He is a fourth degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate, and holds a second degree black belt in Okinawan Kobudo. Rod travelled in a rock band in college, and is a writer of many songs for contemporary church worship. Rod is not known for his cooking, his golf, or his gardening, but he keeps doing them anyway, perhaps out of sheer stubbornness.
Rod is husband to JB (Debi) Brayfindley and their kids, Isak and Eva, who were joined by Amanda Lucas later in life to make a family of five. Please feel free to communicate directly with Rod at pastor@reddingumc.org.
