United Methodist Women

A community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

“…thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” -Leviticus 19:18

Join us in the Social Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at noon for a luncheon, program, business meeting and fellowship.  You may belong to UMW by simply attending the monthly luncheon and business meetings when you sign in.  Church membership is not a requirement.  Luncheons run ten months a year– taking a Summer break in July and August.  A $3 donation is always appreciated.  All women are welcome!  Child care is provided at General meetings upon request. Contact the Church office at 530.243.2403 for more information.

CirclesUMW Circles

United Methodist Women have formed several different small groups known as “Circles”.  They meet once a month to support each other, visit, learn about UMW programs, and physically participate in fulfilling chosen projects of need– locally and world-wide!  Primarily focusing on women, youth, and children, each circle has listed their points of interest and meeting information below.  All are open for visitors.

Anna Circle – Anna Circle does this!  Anna Circle members complete more than 100 hygiene bags each year for Redding’s One Safe Place, where battered women, sometimes children, and even men go to escape from abusive households.  Each hygiene bag contains the following: a washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, dental floss, bar of soap, deodorant, small package tissue and a comb.  All women are welcome to visit and/or join Anna Circle.  We meet at the church on the second Thursday of the month at 10am in room 10.  Contact Patty Drummond through the Church Office for more information.

Craft Circle – This is what the Craft Circle does!  We of the Craft Circle spend our time making items for the Annual Holiday Bazaar in November.  Such items include jewelery, ornaments, bird feeders, place mats, quilts, crochet and knit items, pot holders, cakes, cookies, and much, much more!  Funds earned from the bazaar are used to help support the various projects of our UMW.  We meet at the church in the Wesley Room at 9:30am on most Fridays, with the exception of thrift shop Friday, 11 months out of the year.  All women are welcome to visit or join us anytime.  Contact Nancy Craig through the Church Office for more information.

Deborah Circle – In Service of the Lord!  We make and fill UMCOR Health Kits for use when needed to supply relief, Sponsor students to go to Shasta Youth Camp, support Cypress School by collecting food coupons and delivering them to the school.  We meet for fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth.  Everyone is welcome to join the Deborah Circle.  We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30pm in the Susannah Room of the church. Contact the Church Office for more information.

Joanna e-Circle – We are an online. private group who meet daily on Facebook, supporting one another in community, prayer, and Christian fellowship.  Occasionally, we arrange to meet in person for a salad supper.  We are women of all ages who are not able to attend daytime/evening fellowship, but want to belong to the United Methodist Women’s organization.  We support United Methodist Women mission work by participating in KIVA, a non-profit organization who connects people through lending to alleviate poverty (kiva.org).  Contact the Church Office for more information.

Rachel Circle – What do the women of the Rachel Circle do?  The Rachel Circle women work on projects that help our community and our world including the following: assembling backpacks for local schools and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), raising funds and donating them to local projects such as Camp Hope, Hope Van and Weed Library, providing sewing kits to UMCOR, and sponsoring a student at the “God is Good” school in Uganda.  All women are welcome to participate with this group of caring women.  We meet the first Monday of the month, usually in the evening, but times and locations may vary (as we often meet in local restaurants or in members’ homes).  Contact Carol Whitmer through the Church Office for more information.

Ruth Circle – Founded in 2015, they are part of the UMW of the First United Methodist Church in Redding, although they do their work within the Fall River community with the children through the Fall River Mills Methodist Church. The Ruth Circle is doing a wonderful job working with the Fall River Children’s Community Choir. Now and in the future, the Circle will be working with the children of the community for many more activities.  Contact Susan Tipton through the Church Office for more information.
